Collage Madness! (and a brand new design too)

(download)
A few months ago we introduced the automatic collage - taking the 16 chosen photos from an album and creating a collage image from it with a single click. We started off with a classic 4x4 grid design and our users loved it but they wanted more...

We decided to expand on this offering and our goal was to offer great collage designs that make your photos shine. Many people feel that photo collage is synonamous with childish and rudimentarry design - we hope to bring a fresh new persoective to the table. You can have a taste with the gallery of photo attacehd to this post.

You are invited to check out the new 16pics collage themes and let us know how you feel about them. If you have any interesting ideas for new themes we would love to hear about them.

...and a brand new design to boot.

check it out and let us know what you think: www.16pics.com

A new version coming this week

We are constantly working to improve 16Pics. We have received some great feedback from our Beta users and we have a lot on our plate for the next couple of months.

We are very excited to release a new version this week that includes a very cool feature requested by many of our users - uploading the 16 photo collage to facebook as a photo: When sharing an album to facebook, instead of just providing a link to the album on 16Pics, the service will also upload an actual photo collage of the 16 Photos.

The photo will be uploaded to a facebook album called - "16Pics Photos" that will serve as a highlight reel for the user's albums.

On another note - we are very excited to get reviewed by Andrew Hennigan's Communications Blog - here's a link to the post - it is a great read that includes a number of key insights to the changing world of amateur photography. Here's the link

We are still in closed beta but expect to launch to the public in the coming few weeks. Stay tuned.

What problem are we trying to solve at 16Pics?

Do you always get around to share the photos you want to? The answer is probably not.

It is just too much hassle to go through hundres of photos and pick the ones worth sharing. Often, we skip out on sharing altogether or simply share a link to the entire album. If you ever received a link to an album of 200 photos you know that you are not inclined to view that album.

We think the best number to share on average is between 10-20 photos - so we set out to start 16Pics which helps you narrow any web album into 16 Photos in two easy steps:

Step 1 - 16Pics uses a few algorithms to automatically create an initial selection for you

Step 2 - We provide you with a unique interface designed to let you quickly review and replace any photo to make the selection perfect and share.

We hope you will find this tool useful and enjoyable! Your friends will appreciate it too :-)

We currently support four photo services to be used as sources: Facebook, Picasa, Photobucket and Flickr - let us know in ther comments if your favorite service is not included.

We are launching soon. Please sign up for our Beta and you will soon receive a passcode to try the service before everyone else.
